I have fought with the computer.
And the computer has won several times.
Might be because of the insane WIND and FLOODING that is following our record SNOW. The power has flickered a couple of times, but I'm gonna try one last time.
I'm being optimistic, but I'm watching the river come up into our back pasture. Of course it didn't make me feel much better when my sweet mother-in-law came over and said, "well, it was running under the house one year".
Whoa... wha ???
Just a tad bit nervous now. The road to work was flooded this morning but we made it through. Coming home was trickier. I got back earlier and survived several spots with the water sneaking up past the grille.
Mr. Daddy stayed later and caught a ride with a co-worker.
The roads were shut down and now they're closing the freeway.
Remembering last year, the insane amount of flooding was relatively unexpected. It was mass devastation.
This year people seem to be more prepared. I was blown away at how blessed we are to live in this time... when I checked Craigslist and saw people generously posting their phone numbers and offers to transport people and animals. Even people willing to temporarily board horses (which as you remember, isn't exactly without its risks).
Last year, one of our detachment offices was destroyed in the flooding.
This was disastrous, since the people who needed us most were in that same area. It was shocking to see the remains of police vehicles that had been completely submerged. We have just put the finishing touches on repairing the building... only to have to face the same situation again so soon.
The rivers are supposed to crest tomorrow morning.
Let me tell you about my man.
Mr. Daddy stayed at work. Coordinating a possible evacuation plan. Not wanting to leave while he could still help.
And when he got home, he talked of loading the fishing boat up and heading out to help.
I am so grateful for a husband who cares for others this way.
The dangers are many right now. Landslides and flooding are severe. People are getting stranded (two of our own troopers were stranded while attempting to assist others). Urgent services are stalling.
Please pray, friends.
For safety, for provision, for health. For things to fall into place divinely to spare people loss. Grateful for your prayers.
