300th Post Party!

It's party time! Celebrate like a frosting-covered-sugar-hyped toddler!

Remember that thing I was hinting around about? Something about a giveaway? Well, I found a cool one! Head on over to … oh wait, we're doing this one! :)

To celebrate our 300th post, I thought I’d share one of our favorite Etsy gals with you.
Jaime from SJJR4 was one of my first Etsy purchases. Wait, that came out wrong. I didn’t buy Jaime; but I did buy one, I mean two, I mean THREE of her cool altered tins.

I blogged about it awhile back, but here’s a quick shot of what they look like. Only, in all kinds of custom patterns and themes.

But it’s actually one of her newer items that we’re giving away.

These super-cute magnets are fully customized to whatever picture you send her! With all the iHeartFaces hoopla lately… it’s been really fun to edit photos and think about creative things to do with them.

Don’t tell my mom that I ordered her a set of these magnets with pictures of her grandkids. Mom, if you’re reading this, you’d better be planning on leaving some comment love :)

We're giving away a set of four magnets as seen in Jaime’s Etsy shop. Only, with your pictures, of course. Cuz that would be kinda weird to have someone else’s pictures on your refrigerator.

This would make a great gift that is actually useful! I have to say, I smile every time I see my son’s picture on our fridge. Of course, the smile lasts even longer when it leads to some quality Ben & Jerry’s time (did I just admit that?)

So… since a certain little guy is having a birthday coming up, I’d love to hear your ideas of fun birthday traditions in your family!

Here’s the usual rundown, but hopefully it’s fun!

Leave us a birthday tradition comment for one entry.
If you’re a follower, leave another comment for another entry!
Blog about it and send us the link in another comment and it’ll be another entry.

I know there’s a few lurkers out there, we’d love to meet you!

The giveaway is open until Tuesday evening…cuz you know for sure I’m trying madly to figure out the next entry for iHeart Face’s GREEN theme… without creating any Not Me Monday’s!

Can’t wait for a bloggy friend to receive their special photo magnets!

Congrats on your 300th post! You two totally made me laugh today from your comments! :) I'm glad we found each other in the blogosphere.

The birthday traditions we do is we always take them out for a day of fun with mommy and daddy. In the past it was more of a just them, but I think we will take their brother/sister with them now since they have more fun together. Once they get to the point where they want to go alone, then we will do that. We've taken them to the zoo, to the mall with all the rides and the day AlWAYS starts off with breakfast at the Original Pancake House. Yumm! It started off with just me and Kai for the first outing. Having a birthday in December I knew how often it got overlooked in the excitement of the season. I wanted to make sure he had a GREAT day. Now it has both of us taking them and it is just a fun day!

Our birthday tradition is we have a big tablecloth and fabric markers and we put the table cloth out at every birthday and people write messages on it for him to look at later. My BIL's girlfriend gave us the idea since she had had her tablecloth for 30 years!!! It is so cute to look back year after year and see what messages are on there!

Yeah for 300. Wait until you hit 1000 you'll never believe you made it that far. ;)

Birthday traditions, hmmm, we don't have anything real exciting to report there. Birthdays are always celebrated on the day of, regardless of what day of the week it is. And normally always celebrated after dinner. If there is party planning going on then the lucky person gets two cakes, but only presents from the family on their actual birth day.

I'm already a follower as I have you in my google reader. ;)

Birthday Tradition ... how fun!
Okay, If it's my birthday - I take the day off for me to do whatever I want. The kids.. we will keep the birthday girl/boy home for the day and do something fun they want to do. The night before we will go outside and plant a red piece of candy and then the next morning we will go outside and their will be a over sized giant lolly pop that looks like it grew over night and then we tell him/her it was from the birthday fairy! THEY LOVE IT!

Congrats on the 300th post! Birthday traditions, hmmm......

I started on her first birthday with a handmade adorable birthday hat I purchased on Etsy, and plan to use it each year as long as she lets me put it on her. And this year, for her 2nd birthday I made (yes, as in sewing) a Happy Birthday huge banner that I will pull out each year. And this year we kinda started a tiring tradition that I like, which is the birthday jubilee week....i.e. birthday party with friends on a weekend, small party with family out of state, and small party on her actual birth day.

P.S. I've been following for quite some time :)

Oh, and I've been trying to work on my green theme for next week as well - very challenging!

Not too many birthday traditions...I always have professionl pictures taken of the kids on their exact birthday. Then after they have received all their presents, I take a picture of them with all their gifts, so they know which year they got what toy and remember from who.

You know I follow along. Happy 300th post!

Happy 300th, way to go..

Our birthday tradition, which comes from my hubbies side... The birthday person gets to choose their birthday meal. In my family it was a special treat to go out for our birthdays. Trying to blend that has been fun..

Love the magnets.

Happy 300th post! What a feat!

I like to apply themes to Madeline's birthday (Dora, princess, Hawaiian, and pink so far). I also like to take Madeline's birthday as a time to celebrate her surgeries....I am thinking about posting her third birthday soon, so check it out. :)

I haven't been big into signing up as a follower on blogs, but I hope you know I check your blog out daily. I enjoy it much! :)

Oh congrats on the 300th post. That is awesome! My favorite birthday tradition in my family is that my sister and I send my mom flowers or a little gift on OUR birthdays to say "thanks for bringing us into the world and letting us live through toddlerhood and the teen years"! I haven't started any traditions yet with my own babies, but will be browsing your comments here for ideas! BTW, thanks for visiting What the %@*#?! Wednesday at my blog this week!

I love your blog, Rachel--you often give me the laugh I need in my day--or Itty Bit gives it to me! Happy 300th! Keep 'em comin'!

Our only tradition, other than regular family dinners to celebrate, is on my birthday. We celebrate the "miracle child" God blessed our family with on my 50th birthday. My daughter was discovered to be a Type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetic ten weeks into her second pregnancy, with a blood sugar level at a skyrocketed 742. Throughout most of the pregnancy she was advised by a number of her doctors to terminate the pregnancy and told--right up to the last day-- her baby would have serious defects or might be born dead. She and her husband chose not to terminate. It was frightening for me. I could have lost both my daughter and my grandchild during that pregnancy. Legions bent their heads in prayer for her safety and that of her son. On my 50th birthday, as I stood by my daughter's shoulder, my heart in my throat, a perfect, healthy little boy was born, and we have rejoiced on January 12th ever since. Instead of having the major physical and mental defects that were expected because of that out-of-control blood sugar in the early stages of his development, Max is fine, bright and funny. This is the last year I can go to his school and share lunch with him on our shared birthday--he enters middle school next year; so from now on, it will just be the traditional family dinner at night, but it will still be the heartfelt gratitude of our miracle that reigns in the forefront at that meal. Open gratitude is a pretty good tradition to keep, I expect. (apologies for this being so long)

P.S. I like your music on this blog.

Oh I am SO IN LOVE with those magnets!! TOTALLY in love! Both my front door and my back door are metal, so I have magnets all over both. Probably totally ghetto, but I'll make them GHETTO-FABULOUS with those magnets! ;)

I am a follower, but through Bloglines because wordpress is crappy. Pooh.

Our birthday tradition is: whatever they want for dinner, cake, and maybe a friend over. We used to do the HUGE birthdays, but when you spend so much on parties and then can't afford presents...there's something wrong. So no more parties. LOL

Rachel, I don't need a giveaway.. the biggest gift was finding your blog! I just devoted an entire post to YOU, because this is one of the best blogs I've ever read. No lie. I'm so glad you stopped by mine to leave a comment.. I'm now a follower...

Congrats on your 300th post! That's really a huge accomplishment now that I know how much time and effort goes into blogging. And... I'm a follower!

My traditions have morphed a little. When my oldest was little, my tradition was to bake his cake every year. I'm not a cook and luckily a little guy doesn't care what his cake looks like, but Taylor always loved it. Our latest tradition has been having birthday breakfast! Complete with eggs, sausage, grits, and of course, CAKE!
For Chase... it looks like we're making a tradition with Pie instead of cake. (He's allergic to milk and eggs).

Hey Happy 300th post! Those magnets are so cute!

Our birthday tradition is that you get to choose what we have for dinner on your birthday! We also made a plate for the kids at a make your own pottery place and they use that plate on their birthday! Kinda neat, because you see how little their hands were when they turned 1! Plus a birthday party of course!

P.S. I am a follower, have been for a while and I love your blog *grin*!

Congrats on 300 posts!
We decorate the house (living room and kitchen) with balloons and streamers so that the birthday person has something fun to wake up to in the morning. My kids LOVE waking up to a decorated house. We do it for ourselves, too, but not in the morning. We let the kids help while mom or dad runs an errand.

Thanks for the chance to win!

Great idea! We always go to the movies on our birthday - birthday honoree gets to pick the movie! They also get to pick the meal they want for dinner that night. And, what else...FREE Cold Stone ice cream on (or around your bday)! http://www.coldstonecreamery.com/birthday/birthday_club.aspx
