Bloggy Friends ~ With Benefits

I know we're kinda bouncing all around here.

Feels kind of like our lives these days.

First and foremost, please continue to pray for Baby Stellan. His button is on our sidebar - his mom is updating as she can. I simply cannot imagine. God can do a miracle, He already has.

Just wanted to say a big Thank You to all our friends who linked up for some inspiring and funny stories yesterday. Seems like we all could use them these days!

In lighter news... this bloggy fun has some sweet benefits.

Remember when I told you about my camera strap slipcover and lens cozy that I ordered from PriddyCreations at Etsy?

I emailed Amy a bit later and asked if she had ideas for the silly little inconvenience of having to keep track of my lens cover while I was shooting.

Because sometimes a moment just happens.
Like a cute little butt covered in heavy equipment crawls past you:

or you know you've only got a split second to catch that perfect moment:

and you grab the lens cap off and slap it into your back pocket. Snap a few shots, then spend the next 14 minutes looking for the darn lens cap... finally give up and sit down. CRUNCH.

The funny thing is... the point-and-shoot cameras with lens caps all have that handly little cord to keep it attached. Is it some kind of requirement for professional photogs to not have that little sanity-saver attached? ;)

In any case... Amy heard my plea and actually offered something better. She even blogged about it. And that something better arrived in my mailbox shortly thereafter.

Matching, of course.

She's a girl after my own heart.

And since I was so eager to try it out, I was a dork and didn't take pictures of it before I installed it. That would have been kind of like trying to lick my elbow.

(And no snide comments about how I just might actually be able to do that, based on my last picture with my sis.)

Luckily Amy was smarter than I and took a picture of the whole shebang. The little bit of matching elastic goes around the lens, and the coordinating little button is attached to the lens cap with velcro. Very easy to switch between lenses.

How very cool?!?! Trust me: this has saved my butt already (literally... I was not a fan of sitting on my lens cap all the time). It makes things much easier - no worries about losing it when I'm concentrating on photographing my little troublemaker.

If' you'd rather have a little pouch that slides onto your camera strap, she makes those in any fabric and will match them with other accessories if you like. How cool is that?

Now if I could only come up with an excuse for a giveaway... ;)

Cool and so cute. But I have to say the stupid little cord that attaches my lens cap to my point and shoot annoys the heck out of me. I HATE having to hold the lens cap string out of the way every time I try to angle my camera anyway but landscape mode. It's been a REAL pain trying to get shots for the i heart faces upcoming self portrait theme. Any suggestions?

That is a BRILLIANT idea! You should get some kind of credit. Like some royalties or something. LOL

Really.. we MUST be connected at the mind! I was taking pictures just yesterday and thinking about how my Fuji (which didn't have interchangeable lenses) had the little cord attachment, and how I wish there were a "lens leash" somewhere! Lo and behold... you read my mind!!! I'll be hoppin' over there today, and I'll make sure to mention who sent me....
Muchas gracias... (or much grace, whichever you prefer.....)

Those are very cool! I am constantly misplacing my lens cap. A friend of mine asked me if I shot Nikon because she had a Nikon lens cap at her house. That's where I put it! And I have one extra one, so I've officially misplaced two of them LOL! At one point I didn't have any lens caps on because they were all MIA!

That shot of Itty Bit is so freakin' cute, too. :)

Cari -

I'm not one to advocate violence against cameras... but in this case, I'd have to say, get the scissors out and 'cut the cord'... then get yourself one of these removable ones so you have the flexibility of either! :)

I wish I had use for one of those...because that would mean that I had a way cool camera w/ a lens...that had a detachable cover...but I don't. :( However, they are really really cute! She's way creative! I love Etsy!

That's some really cool stuff! Too bad I don't have a really cool camera. One day, though. I can dream until then, right?
