Look away! Look away!

Seriously... is it too much to ask that both of my boys look the same direction for a photo?

and switch again...

See what I mean?

I'm starting to get a complex about this "coincidence" every time the camera comes out...

And yes, the above shot was at the park... same day as the infamous this...
What are your tricks for getting kiddos (small and grown) to look at the camera?

This is hilarious! Maybe you need a squeaky toy and a high-pitched voice. "Look at the rubber ducky kids! Over here, squeak, squeak!"

And I'm not sure what you mean about the comment conversation. Pain? I'd totally explain if I could figure it out!

HILARIOUS...can't believe every picture has one of them turned the other way.

Threaten bodily harm. :P JK. . . that doesn't really work. Sometimes I use bribery ~ give me a picture and I'll take you to McDonald's.

I think it's all part of a Mr. Daddy conspiracy! He has Itty Bitty trained! My secret is to tell my hubby not to look away or stop smiling, even for a freakin second because it is easier to just focus on Natey. Sadly I don't know that this tactic will work on Mr. Daddy!

OMGosh, I am CRACKIN up!! HAHAHAHA!!! That is hilarious! And yes, I can totally relate. When we did the family silouette at sunset that day, I must have taken a dozen photos because no one would do the SAME thing at the SAME time. It's easy, STAND, PUT YOUR ARMS UP. That's it. But no...they just couldn't handle that.

If you want BOTH to look a certain way, I make noise or have someone else make noise off in the direction I want them to look. OR give them something to look AT: look at the red car/tree/street/etc.

You crack me up! That is the very reason why I take at least 6 photos of the same pose. It is a MIRACLE if I can get all three of my kids looking in the same direction... we won't even talk about Nurse Boy. Great photos, anyway!

Those were hilarious! I am cracking up at you. Too funny. I tell the grown up to keep looking at me and then I do something to catch little ones attention...like some crazy noise or have someone close by do something silly behind me. Yea..doesn't always work though!

It's sort of like "man ballet", isn't it? Although, honestly, when I read the title of your blog post, I thought it was going to be "look away, Dixieland".. and you were going to reveal that you were coming to see me! A girl can wish, can't she? As for looking at the camera, I can usually say something like "there's a bug right behind my head", and I get a great shot every time!

Simon Says usually works for us. I would have more suggestions, but I just read about the park incident and now I'm laughing too hard! lol

Too funny, I have the same problem with Allie and Jack! And quite often at photo shoots with siblings. Wish I could help, just shoot, shoot, shoot and hopefully you get just one of them both, LOL!

I swear I thought we were the only one with that problem! So glad it's not just me, lol. LOVE your shots, I was dying laughing the whole time and nodding my head up and down. :)

Just so y'all know... Mr. Daddy does NOT listen when I bring out the camera. And Itty Bit has defintely gotten used to the whole high-pitched funny noise thing and basically ignores me while I act like an ape.

And... the bug trick didn't work - I actually posted the pictures of a very curious Itty Bit looking deep into my lens!

And just cuz it's taking Mr. Daddy waaaay too long to get to the comments: despite the farmer's tan in that last shot... I just love me some of that sleeveless guy :)

wife.mom.nurse said...

That is funny.
But, they are all excellent pix. Who wants dumb, boring, looking at the camera photos anyway!? LOL~

Rachel said...

Oh Julie... I DO, I DO! Just a couple dumb boring ol' look at the camera shots every now & then. Just so I can see what color their eyes are occasionally :) You crack me up!

McCrakensx4 said...

Oh my gosh....that is too funny! I love that they are looking in the opposite direction EVERY time! lol

Lisa said...

Okay, Mr. Daddy P.I., you need to work on that farmers tan (couldn't help but notice it and since Rachel brought it up that makes it fair game, right?) cause you need an even tan to show off those arms. You look great FOR YOUR AGE! LOLOL Couldn't resist. Didn't try too hard, either! :}

These pictures crack me up. I can't even get ONE kid to look at the camera, so I have absolutely no advice. Sorry. I do remember the pic of Itty bit looking for the bug on your lense. That was about when I first 'found' you guys! lol

Lisa said...

Oh yeah, (I am getting so bad for this, not remembering everything in one comment *blush* Must be cause I am a year older!) your post reminds me of that Will Smith song, "Switch." Can't remember all the words, but switch is said several times throughout!

Love this post. Funny!

I usually threaten or bribe to get my subjects to look at the camera. :)

I love the scenery in the pictures, by the way. What a beautiful area!

Oh my word...that is hilarious and perfectly captured with your photos! Love it!

Too funny! I can relate and I'm sorry I don't have any wonderful advice or tricks! Maybe hold up a piece of cake...that might work!

Get a key chain with a chainsaw sound on it!!!! These are funny though!

Pam D said...

HEEE!! on Melissa's comment; there ya go! Now, where ARE you guys lately? It's been waaaay too quiet around here, and Mr. Daddy seems a lot like Bug Hunter. When it's too quiet, he's up to no good. I'm lookin' for that True Story Tuesday link; who's gonna post this week?

Same stuff goes on at my house right now. I think the kids are sick of me. They stubbornly turn their head and won't look at me...

Stacy said...

LOL...Yes, I have these same occurances, but they do get better in time. They get resigned to the fact that they are constantly getting photographed. ;)
