Repeat Success?

You know how sweet it is when someone does something special for you?  And how it’s even better when it’s a complete and total surprise?

Y’all already know Lisa from Our Life With Dylan… well, this week she went above and beyond the call of duty to help a girlfriend out.

It was a priceless moment when Mr. Daddy opened her latest post, smacked my shoulder to get my attention, then read the whole thing speechlessly.

Cuz the man immediately knew it was gonna be about him… seeing as she addressed it to “Mr. Hottie Magnum Daddy” – which came from a hilarious case of mistaken identity in the comments section of this post.  (Yes, I know, I’ve linked to it eleventy times already – but I really, really still think it’s hilarious).

~

Fast forward to yesterday and this thing has taken on a life of its own.  Lisa’s Letter of Intent for Julie’s blog was a thing of beauty.  Go read it… seriously.  I’ll wait.

~

I gotta tell ya, I feared this man would never marry me.  Not because he didn’t love me.  Not because we didn’t have a decade-long friendship and knew we could stand eachother for several more decades.  Not because he didn’t believe “we’d make cute kids” as he once said it.  But because of “what everyone else would think”.

Huh?

Who is “everyone else” and why do they get a say in us getting married?

“Everyone else” would apparently frown upon our age difference and assume terrible things.

Turns out, “everyone else” doesn’t really care about it.  And the “someones” who might, have entirely too much time on their hands.

~

He married me anyway.

(WHEW – glad I talked him into that one).

And y’all know that Itty Bit was a miracle, right?  Because PCOS and babies don’t usually mix.  Our little wonder arrived a few weeks early and fit perfectly in Mr. Daddy’s hands.

I can tell you that I suddenly loved this man of mine in a brand new way when I snuck this picture hours after delivering Itty Bit.

DSCN5079 It was 1:34 am.  All the more reason for my heart to go pitter-pat.

~

Father’s Day was extra-special with my blue-eyed boys.

(“With eyes like the sea after a storm” – extra credit if you can tell me where that’s from :)

It is amazing sharing this kind of joy.

And as I bugged Mr. Daddy for a chance at growing our little family with another miracle, he’d always stubbornly insist, “I’m too old”.

Huh?  You’ve already got a 3-year old,  you might as well give him a younger sibling, right?

~

Go ahead, make me melt a bit more.  Picking a flower for mommy.

IMG_8624

(ahem) With biceps like those, you are NOT too old to have another kiddo.  Just sayin’

~

Look what Mr. Rockin Hottie Magnum Daddy has to put up with when he comes home from hunting?

A little guy who wants to be just like him and misses the dickens out of him.

And they can’t even operate heavy equipment without getting goofy.

Seriously boys, who’s steering that thing.  And what what really happened to my japanese maple?

IMG_0122

~

So do it Mr. Daddy… take a leap of faith – knowing that you are a great dad and Itty Bit would be a great big brother.  Knowing that I’ll quit bugging you after just one more.  And your sweet mother-in-law would too ;)

Just trust:

And it’ll be fine

Even if we do do things our own silly way

Oh, so glad I am the first to comment....

First of all, Mr. Daddy, how could you look at all those pictures of Itty Bit and say no to one more? (Again, NOT butting in or anything, lol) And they even make camo in pink and with bows and everything, so you are covered boy OR girl. Just so you know.

My dear Rachel, we also have a PCOS baby. Dylan's Momma has had PCOS for years, and we didn't know if we would have little ones around for a while or not. But we sure do!

And, as my mother mentioned after you last comment Rach, my Papaw was 49 when my mom was born, so put that in your pipe, Mr. Daddy! LOL

Just so you know, my full name is Lisa Dawn, if you should persuade Mr. Daddy to go for it and you should desire to name him/her in any way, form, or fashion after me. LOL. Just kidding. Kind of! (I already have one kiddo named after me, a Hannah Alise, so I can handle it if that is all I get in this lifetime!)

Lord, I thought you were going to say you were pregnant (I was fixin to yell out loud and wake everyone in the house).

Mr. Hottie Magnum... I mean, Mr. Daddy YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD. Dude, I AM TOO OLD and I just had another baby. I'm going to be a member of AARP when my newest one graduates from high school, but NO REGRETS.

There's nothing better. You are a fantastic Dad and you have enough fantastic to share between Itty and an Itty sibling.

GO FOR IT! ;)

So, how old is Mr.Daddy? He looks young enough to me to have one more! So get going!!

What a sweet, sweet post!! I tell you, there is absolutely nothing as heart warming as watching my two boys play together nicely (on the odd occasions when they actually play nicely together). Oops, strike that. I'm supposed to be convincing Mr. Daddy to have more than one!

Seriously though, when it comes to love and family, there is no such thing as "too old."

I'm not going to get in the middle of this. Just want to say that those pictures are fantastic.

I am going to have to AGREE with Rachel here and say to you, Mr. Daddy, that you are NOT too old!

All I can say is, if we managed to make another miracle, you guys can too!!! Let's kick PCOS in the fat patootie!

Love this post. The love between the three of you is just simply contagious!!

Come on, Mr. Daddy! That whole "I'm too old" excuse is just lame! Everyone knows that you're only as old as you feel. And with all that huntin' you do and whatever else crazy thing Rachel is always writing about, I think you probably feel pretty young. Now get crackin' on that baby-makin' Mr Daddy!

I am so there with you as you know with the same experience with PCOS and so many years to have a miracle of our own. The only issue is that Chris wants one too but our insurance now sucks. So what do you do?? Anyway, yes you need another one!! By the way, Blaze has those same Carter's tennis shoes...lol.

All I am going to say is GREAT parents should always have more than one child:) Oh & Abraham was old.

Oh I say AMEN to that one! Go for it Mr. Daddy! Oh, and of course Rachel too ;).

Are you at least thinking about it now, Mr. Daddy? *smile*

Do it!!! ;) What have you got to lose except for some of the grey hair that we all have from our kiddos!!!

I mean it can't be that bad if we can spend on day on the computer commenting right? RIGHT?

Dear Mr. Daddy...I am here by way of my Cuzzin Lisa Dawn's blog...I hear that you have some "issues" on having another baby...I do not usually stick my nose into other folks business...but I just had to this time...sowwwy ahead of time...I am the mother of a 21 yr old son who wishes everyday that he had a brother or sister to talk to, confide in, fight with, be friends with and be sad with...you see in May I was diagnosed with breast cancer...I am getting ready to have my 6th out of 8 treatments...he really wishes he had a sibling to share his feelings with...it's tough on him...so when you say you are too old, think of the little one...do you really want him to grow up without a sibling close in age? I know I sure wish I could go back and change my decisions...too late for that...but anyways wanted to see if I could get your mind thinking in a different direction...hope I didn't offend you Mr.Daddy...Lisa Dawn's Cuzzin Robyn

O Rachel, what a sweet, sweet post. I have a feeling that Mr. Daddy has maybe changed his mind...good luck to you both and keep us posted!

He certainly looks like a wonderful daddy to the your little guy! Love your pics to help illustrate his daddyness (yeah, I just made that word up.) I love the one where they're kissing!

Mr. Daddy, as the wife to another amazing Daddy, take the plunge! You are an INCREDIBLE man/husband/and especially Dad! How lonely for Itty Bit....to never have that special sibling bond with anyone....

(does guilt work at all? LOL)

A family this wonderful should always have at least 2 kids. And my husband says you should GO for that girl! Imagine an adorable tutued girl clunkin' around in her daddy's muddy boots....

Wow, you are really calling in the big guns now aren't ya!! Haha! I vote yes, not that I get a vote, but you know what I mean!!!

Long time reader, 1st time commenter! I love y'alls blog!!
I just felt the need to comment and say hello!

There is a 28 year age difference between by husband and I (33 and 61) and we both agreed in our dating years (5 of them before we got married almost 3 years ago) that children were not in our future. I do not have any and he has 5 children (ages 20 - 39) and 5 grandchildren (ages 2 - 11) from his previous marriage. Everyone's reasons for wanting 1 child or 2 children or 20 children is always different but my advise it to let Mr. Daddy know how you feel about wanting to try for another child but to also respect his decision in the long run. I know you do respect him and how he feels, that is apparent on your blog, but be patient. I was told by my husband he would NEVER EVER marry again. NEVER!!! HA!! I kept my mouth shut and just loved him to the best of my ability and we will celebrate 3 years October 28th.

This is a decision for you and Mr Daddy to make and I am sure it will be the right one. Your 3 are sure a blessing to all of us!

With love from SC,
Chantel

Nice posting about a great guy...

Seriously, Mr. D has always offered up words of encouragement to me... (Mr. D., go check my last post; I replied to your comments).

So if y'all want to, go for it!

(Mr. D, if you've forgotten how, I can send you a booklet :)

LOL!

Oh Itty Bit is so dang cute! I can't wait to hear what you decide Mr. Daddy, but I have to agree with Rachel you aren't too old (even if I haven't a clue as to your age). ;)

I HAVED LOVED THIS BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN YOURS AND LISA'S BLOG, AS I STATED ON LISA'S BLOG I DON'T THINK MR. HOTTIE DADDY IS TOO OLD, AND BESIDES ISN'T AGE JUST A NUMBER, HOW OLD DOES HE FEEL? I DON'T KNOW, BUT HE DOESN'T LOOK OLD, SO THATS WHAT SHOULD COUNT, RIGHT?? AS OF NOW DYLAN IS AN ONLY CHILD BUT IF THE LORD BLESSES A MAN LIKE MR. DADDY, SOMEONE WHO IS A GOOD DADDY, INTO MY LIFE I DON'T WANT HIM TO BE AN ONLY CHILD!! MY COUSIN PRACTICALLY MADE ME PROMISE THAT IF I HAD ONE IF ABLE I WOULD HAVE 2, SHE IS AN ONLY CHILD.

MOMMA AMY TO DYLAN

Ha! Now that's a new way to have the "any more?" discussion! Mr. Daddy, as the mommy to 3 little girls, I pray every day for their future husbands. For their hearts, for their parents to guide them and teach them how to be godly men. You are doing that. Itty Bitty will make a wonderful husband someday, and God knows, this world is in need of Godly men. Just my 2 cents worth... and the photos are priceless!

*nudge, nudge* Hey, Mr. Daddy...I bet you guys would make another little one...just imagine if you two have a little girl! Oh, how sweet that would be. A little prince and princess to teach to hunt! Yes, they do make pink camo...Anya has some. ;)

Jewelz said...

oh...I thought Stacy almost had it on the last comment....I can't believe no one else picked up the 'Princess Brides' quote....(“With eyes like the sea after a storm” – extra credit if you can tell me where that’s from :)
I'm a hopeless romantic teenage girl at heart Rachel :o)

Mr Daddy...little princesses are VERY cool ~winks~ SERIOUSLY!

Cheers

Okay, so I am a little behind on reading here. I want to put my two cents in here, of course!! I think another child would be lovely, the thought of your little one growing up without experiencing the love that is shared between siblings just breaks my heart!! He needs a sidekick in this life, and someone to hang onto many years from now when the two of you are no longer with him. Also, as far as the age thing goes, I'm not sure how old you are Mr. Daddy, but my daddy was 50 when I was born, and he did an EXCELLENT job!!!!

~PS~ Rachel, I took your advice and just posted my on my hunting boys. They are in full swing now and loving every minute of it!!!

Let me just start with: Princess Bride! My FAVORITE movie!

and

Your cute Itty Bit needs a sibling. Seriously the next best thing to watching your husband with your son is watching your kids love and play together!

I also have PCOS. Undiagnosed AFTER I had my twins. I used chlomid to get the first 3. I took metformin and baby #4 was conceived with NO TRYING/scheduled baby making sessions! TMI? sorry!
