Greatly exaggerated rumors

Grandma:  Yes, Angel Boy?

(looking woebegone with the weight of the world on his shoulders)

My mother died when I was just a baby.

Grandma:    (Gasp)  What???  No she didn’t.

My mother died when I was just a baby.

Grandma:  No she didn’t honey – your mommy is Rachel and she didn’t die.

Grandma:  Yes Angel Boy?

My father died when I was just a baby.

Grandma:  What?  No he didn’t.  Your daddy is fine honey.

My parents died when I was just a baby.

Grandma:  Honey, no they didn’t.  Your mommy and daddy are alive.

My FRIEND died when I was just a baby.

Just an average “what on earth?!” conversation with Itty Bit on a Thursday afternoon.

The culprit?

You’re not gonna believe it.

tom and jerry

Apparently this sweet and innocuous little cartoon is a version of “The Little Princess” and is royally sad for a 4-year old.  Yeesh – y’all know I can’t lipread cartoon characters… but I thought Tom & Jerry would be a safe bet???

Anyhow… the rumors are greatly exaggerated ;)

Well let me be the first to say "whew!" - glad it was only a rumor. I thought that whole Julie vs. Mr. Daddy had taken a very ugly turn.

I think I'd be skipping that movie from now on!

Uh oh! Why do they have to make kid shows sad? The real world is bad enough! I do not like to pay to watch things that make me cry! I can just watch commercials. Seriously, I have been known to shed a tear at some commercials. Didn't there used to be a very touoching McDonald's commercial? Hee hee!

OHHHH MY!!! WOW the things those *innocent cartoons* can do!! Well I am glad it was just an exaggeration!!

NO WAY....Rach, Belle has been having 'dying' conversations with me too. Not just dying but also...mummies (egyptian), vampires, and ghoul chats!!!!
Culprits....Tom & Jerry AND Scooby Doo.
Seriously, No really EXACTLY the same.
Today she made me laugh by cruising past the skeleton in our Doctor's office, stopping and having her own little 'moment' with 'Bones', whilst the Doc and I had our own little chat o_O
She and "Bones' discussed the list of possible ailments "Bones" may be suffering from. Bella was certain Bones had had his blood sucked out of his body by vampires...THAT was his problem mhmmm!
.........."Dr James 'll sort you out Bones, ok? Well I gotta go now. Hi Five Bones?"...Bella holds Bones 'hand' up to hi-five him as we leave the surgery. then calls out over her shoulder.....Byeee Dr James! Cummon Mum............ o_O (((SIGHS)))

Bless his heart! I couldn't let Cameron watch Free Willy or The Tigger Movie because he would cry for days! And Easter, that child would just cry his heart out because he didn't want Jesus to die. The harder that I tried to explain it to him the harder he would cry.

Just so you know, be aware of Batman cartoons. They have cartoon sex! I was shocked.

And what's with all the Disney movies that start with the mom dying. We had seen the Land Before Time's second movie The Day of the Flyers and we loved it ... then I let them watch the original without previewing it ... I figured it was just as cute ... my daughter came in sobbing about the horrible death of the mother in the beginning ... I'm not sure why anyone would consider that kid movie content.

Merri Ann, I think I cried on the Land Before Time lol I love Tom and Jerry though

It is truly amazing what they get from tv shows. Or books even.

Glad the rumors are wrong. ;)

Good merciful heavens! I'm so glad y'all didn't die when he was just a baby! We'd all miss you!

wow! That's something else, isn't it? Probably better than what he'd pick up from other tv shows though.

The things they say sometimes! Nate was telling me this morning..."When I was a little boy..." I was like, dude, you're 3. You are still a little boy. :O)

Wow!!!! LOL!!!! That's all I can say!!!! Poor guy!

Wow - that would have made this blog extremely awkward. I, for one, am very grateful you did not die in childbirth. It amazes me what they glean from programs.

When I was a child (yes, I actually was one, once) I thought cartoons were totally unrealistic. Sadly it seems they have not improved much. How does someone fall off of cliff and come back to life?

Oh no...Stunt Man loves him some Tom & Jerry. Not sure i have seen that one.

BenLand said...

wow...i think i might ban tom & jerry from my boys' playlist!!!
(your son is too cute!!)

Aww, bless his heart. On a side note. I turned the tv to Tom and Jerry to see what Blaze would think the other day and he was mesmerized. He loves it. He cracks up so hard watching it.

Death and little kids seem to go hand in hand. When our dog was hit and killed W.W. obsessed about death, and the topic still comes up. I think it is hard to imagine someone or something not coming back because time is so much more fluid for kids. I don't know. I'm familiar with that conversation though.
