True Story Tuesday - Rock 'n Roll

Tuesday already?!?!  Well, you're in for a real treat!  Mr. Daddy is bringing out a brand new tale for this week's True Story Tuesday!

~

ROCK 'N ROLL!
Rollin rocks! It will probably not be a national sport, or become a major Olympic event in my lifetime, but when you have climbed one too many hills. And crossed one to many deep dark canyons. And the ever-elusive Wapiti (elk) has given you the slip for the bazillionth time... it becomes a very entertaining pastime for a few redneck boys who are wore out and frustrated and bored spitless.

So when it gets too hot, and the elk aren't coperating you can find us gathered at the top of the highest mountain that we can find, looking for that perfect rock to roll.

On this particular day we found a very nice high spot, the road cut around the hill with about a 75 to 80 percent drop of about a 1,ooo feet to the river below...

The sweetest thing about it was the hill was mostly rock and they had, had to blast alot to cut the road, which had left some very nice rocks of perfect rollable size quite handy. And for the story, it must be noted that some were not so handy in size.

Now you can not even begin to imagine the lengths that a few bored redneck lads will go to, to see a rock bound down the mountain. Add in a few beers, and one could even go so far as to say it can get down right ridiculous.

In our preliminaries, or what we like to call our warm up round,s we had exhausted pretty much all the rock readily handled by one guy alone. Which of course is just a nice segue into the two man rocks, and then to what we call the gang rocks... which we call ROUS's (rocks of unusual size.)

And I am here to tell you that in rock rolling at least, size really matters... Just saying, (don't judge me)

So there we were, all ganged up on this gihugic rock, straining away as if our lives depended on it, workin on the next herinia. All to no avail. IT AINT BUDGING.

You would of thought that we would have given up right??? RIGHT!!!!

NOT.......It is absolutely mind bogling what a few beers mixed with a bunch of testosterone will do to mental thought processes of a few good men...

Then again maybe it's not so mind boggling when you think about it the way we waltz from one mishap to another...Again don't judge us. It's a curse we must bear...

So there we were straining away, and my little brother has a grand idea...for some reason, (and I am quite certain it wasn't epic foresight that we would need it for rock rolling, and it's not the normal gear that is included in an elk hunt), he had a crowbar behind the seat of his truck...

This rock we are worrying on is huge, it is positioned right on the side of the road in perfect position to make the mother of all rock rolling experiences, and we are all drunk on the high of all the previous rock rolls (and a few beers) and as we had pretty much exhausted all the other rock sources......... WELL this rock just HAD to roll!!!!

ENTER THE CROWBAR!!!!!

I think it was Sir Isaac Newton that claimed that if you gave him a big enough bar and a fulcrom he could move the world.....

Hold on to that thought!!!!!

My brother got out his bar, and where he might of fell short was in his choice of fulcrums....we all have our heads down straining away to move this behemoth of a rock, Brush Ape (my brother) is straining away on his bar, (with faulty fulcrom) we feel a little shift and hear a grunt.

I look up in time to see my brother with a perfectly reflected dent of said crow bar between his eyes, which is quickly turning into the mother of all goose eggs..

Cousin Bubba grabs him just before he falls off the edge of the road....LOL

I believe that, that rock is still there today....

Okay, so I know you guys like to blame your young drinking days for this... but what about these crazy ideas that you come up with... WITHOUT any liquid courage?

Trust me friends, these boys have survived by the grace of God (and two good women :)

LOL that is hilarious! Why on earth did he have the crowbar in the truck anyways?! Like you said, not usual gear for elk hunting lol

LOL Oh your poor brother. I can't imagine how that hurt. But I'm sure you all laughed hysterically at him.

Why do I keep picturing an eyeglass imprint when I read this? Seems to me Mr. D that you have a track record worth taking note of.

I think it's a wonder that men live long enough to reproduce! LOL! And no ... I don't hate men! It's just mind boggling that you survive your own brilliant ideas!

Sounds like a blast! Did you score by time, distance or just general mayhem caused while rolling?

(That's gunna leave a mark...)

Somehow I am absolutely not surprised at all your "whiling away the day with beers and rock rolling" exploits LOL! And OF COURSE someone got hurt...that is what is supposed to happen, right? ;)

It's all fun and games til someone gets wacked in the head with a crowbar!
