I would have said, “cuz that’s how we roll”, but sometimes that phrase makes my eye twitch.
But really… no one does goofy birthdays like our family.
In one random bit of trivia, my sister and I are two weeks (and a few years) apart… and we switched birthdays. I was born a couple of weeks late, she was born a couple of weeks early.
(And I wonder why she’s Mom’s favorite?)
Hence, we have experienced the oft-bemoaned SHARED BIRTHDAY.
But this year? We had a blast sharing it.
We started off the day with Mr. Daddy taking kiddie duty so Mom could whisk us away to lunch. And I’d show you pictures, except that I couldn’t keep my hands off my food long enough to snap one. Anyone have a recipe for tacos el pastor? (I’m not kidding, not even a little bit)
We hit the clearance racks. Seriously? $14.99, originally $69.50? Happy Girl!
Then… we went BOWLING! We took the kids and they had a BLAST. Some grown up may or may not have complained about the automatic bumpers that lifted when it was their turn. UGH.
That, my friends… is the face of a woman who nearly got her butt kicked at bowling by her 4-year-old who was playing for the very first time.
Alas, he literally got his BUTT handed to him when he stepped out too far…
He broke the cardinal rule of not stepping on the slippery stuff. And promptly paid for it with a spectacular crash to his cute little tush.
Therefore no one looked at my score.
I did not break 100.
Pizza and cake would have to console me.
The combined candles for these two ancient chicks generated some darn impressive smoke signals.
(I love my Mom’s lack of confidence in our lung power :)
But the best part? Did you forget about the “random” thing?
Whilst trying to figure out just how much taller that young cousin of mine was… I stood behind him for the official “eyeball it” test.
And in doing so, this lovely image was captured:
Business in the front, party in the back. Classic.
And we all know that my sister changes her hairstyle frequently:
Is YOUR grandmother this fun?
The real treat, was in seeing the surprises on my memory card after my camera was picked up by random people…
(Warning – cute camera straps, will cause people to be unable to resist snapping a few shots…)
I think my sis is really taking it to heart: You have to grow older, growing up is optional :)
Love you Junebug – Happiest Birthday!
(See, didn’t I tell you we are the best kind of random? And if you haven’t entered the super cute camera strap/keychain wristlet giveaway yet… head on over and get your chances in!)
