Denial and Peace

I’ve felt robbed lately.

Of the usual enjoyment of having a funny husband and an equally-hilarious kid.

Of a peace about our future.

Of sleep and any kind of rest.

So I did it.

I refused.

Those painful changes?  I denied them the right to my weekend.

And guess what?

My husband is still funny.

My kid is still hilarious.

And God doesn’t let any man steal my future.

In the middle of that thing I can’t blog about”… God gave us the most awesome break from the stress.

A day at the water.  First the fountain:

Then at the docks:

Then for bowls of clam chowder and a session of funny faces at a restaurant.  The kid charmed our waitress for sure:

Then Mr. Daddy tried his hand at charming our waitress too:

The Olympics were showing off that day…

And we cracked up over silly little things like running into branches.

Then headed home for some man-to-man time.

What?  You don’t mow the lawn with a pair of binoculars?

Then I realized all over again that I married into one wonderfully crazy family…

IMG_0232

Heck yeah, we went muddin’!

And that was after the trauma of crossing THE CREEK.

Are we brave or what?  You’re welcome for not posting the video of me screaming like a girl.

Guess what?  You’re not going to believe this… I didn’t get injured the whole time!  Maybe that is a reward for all the mud I had to shake out of my hair and my underwear (don’t ask).

And God is still good.

Thanking Him for moments like these.

And how was your weekend?

I can just imagine how besotted the waitress was when Mr Daddy starting wooing her with his "look" haha. Hilarious for sure. Of course Itty Bit is just the cutest thing in the world. He has grown so much. Looks like a wonderful time that you really needed and I am so happy you did it. Praying for the situation and for peace for you friend. I know you need that so much right now.

"Denied them the right to my weekend." Love it. Good for the family. Good for the soul.

I still can't get over how "fair" Mr. Daddy's upper arms are compared to his forearms! :)

Glad you had some fun this weekend AND did not meet up with any kind of mishap! :)

Okay, I will let you laugh at my total redneck-east coast self.

After the comment about the "Olympics showing off" I spent a good 2 minutes playing find the hidden objects in the picture. I was looking for ATHLETES, not MOUNTAINS. You might be a redneck if...........

So, so, SO happy you had a good weekend. That took incredible determination and strength on your part to put everything else behind you for a few days.

I know that now it's Monday again, but hold on to those smiles and remember what's important in life. Praying as always!

Looks like you had a wonderful time enjoying the warm weather this weekend! I bet that was nice to just let loose and enjoy yourselves. The muddin' looks fun, too (but very dirty LOL)!

Joy in the midst of pain is one of God's greatest gifts. Walking through it as well today. He will give you wonderful reasons to smile, dear friend.

I remember one day, right smack in the middle of a stressful time, when I stood in our green backyard watching my husband and a friend set up and fill a pool while our boys played nearby, and it occurred to me that I was happy! Sounds strange. It was such a normal moment but I think those are the moments in which we know "the fullness of joy!"

Rachel, first of all, thank you so much for helping me fix my Blogger commenting problem!!! Your solution did the trick.

I'm so sorry you are going through such a difficult time. I'm so proud of you for not letting all that yuck rob you of your fun weekend. Praying for good days ahead for you and your sweet family.

Thanks so much for your encouragement and bloggy friendship. It means more than you know.

Much love,

Okay, 'Olympics' I had NO IDEA what in the name of snow-covered-mountains in June you were talking about. LOL. ;)

You've been on my mind, girlie, so it's nice to hear you had a relaxing weekend. You deserve it.

And gosh darn, that kid is sooooooo YOU it's scary. I'm sure there's plenty of Mr. D in there too, but my goodness he is favoring his mama right now. He's a doll.
