The winds of life.
Oh how they can buffet and assail us.
They can hammer us down and mercilessly afflict our souls.
Each and every one of us are touched by these winds.
Just remember: These winds do not define us! Life is a choice.
As in the words of Jimmy Dean: " I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination."
We have had some pretty fierce winds as of late. Now, no one minds a gentle breeze or two, but a class 4 or 5 tornado is certainly not a welcome sight. And requires a lot more adjustments... Just saying....
With that being stated. I would like to take this opportunity to share a few things that helps with my adjustments.
“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine” (laughter really does heal and cleanses the soul) ~Proverbs 15:13
“Hold it the greatest sin to prefer existence to honor, and for the sake of life to lose the reasons for living” ~Juvenal
“All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.” ~Winston Churchill
“If honor be your clothing, the suit will last a lifetime; but if clothing be your honor, it will soon be worn threadbare” ~William Arnot
“You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor.” ~Aristotle
“When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier”. ~Roy E. Disney
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery
“Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live.” ~Oscar Wilde
“What you are afraid to do is a clear indicator of the next thing you need to do.” ~Unknown
“The possibility that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just.” ~ Abraham Lincoln
“Transcend political correctness and strive for human righteousness.” ~Anthony J. D'Angelo
“I hope I shall possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.” ~George Washington
I never suggested that adjustments would be easy, :o) just necessary...
I hope and pray that you can find a nugget of truth in here - that helps with some of your adjustments....
And with that I would like to leave you with one more thought:
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”
This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
