May blink June blink

(giveaway winner announced on original post)

Holy smokes.

Where did May and June go?

School is out and we’ve finally had some of those days that make the Pacific Northwest the best place to live.

Of course I’m referring to SOCKLESS weather.  Booyah.

My husband is NOT a fan of these shoes.  Got them on sale and wear them everywhere just to annoy him.  I’m glad he thinks I’m cute.

Shoes by Blowfish, super pale ankles and iffy-first-position by Rachel.

(Do not search Blowfish {dot} com.  You will need mind bleach.  Direct link here for shoes that might annoy your husband.  You’re welcome.)

We blinked and May was nearly done.  Boogadacious shared his birthday with his school’s spring musical.  He approached it with his usual professionalism.

Remember when I told you all the exhausting things that had happened in one crazy week in May?  Well, I didn’t share one of the most traumatizing things…

Our empty-nest parents have been doting on two gorgeous chocolate labs.  The brothers have grown into 100 pound lapdogs from this:

Shame on you for thinking I was kidding about the 100 pound lapdog part  ;)

The boys are much beloved.  Right after my mother hurt herself challenging the lawn mower, she arrived home to find both of the dogs collapsed outside; injured and bleeding.

It appeared that maybe a mountain lion or bear had tangled with them – the boys had fought hard – with horrible wounds to prove it.

Remember… my mom was on crutches.  Trying to tend to two badly hurt large canines who couldn’t walk.  With no idea whether or not a predator was still in the woods nearby.  I still get chills.

Thankfully… her sheer determination and careful doctoring pulled them through.  Thankful to God that she arrived in time.

They’re nearly back to their old selves… anyone who has animals knows the heartache and joy of this story.

Then we blinked and it was June.

And we totally hijacked poor Michelle’s honeymoon and asked if she wanted to join us for a hibachi dinner.

(Apologies for Boogadacious photobombing you with those chopsticks)

I wasn’t a dummy… I picked a place that had built-in entertainment in case she realized that I was not nearly as interesting in person as I try to be when I have 14 minutes to think about what to say on this here blog.

Turns out she totally gets my kind of craziness.

Then a few days later… my beautiful mother (pretending she wasn’t limping) made her way across a stage to complete her first nursing degree.  Proud doesn’t begin to describe it.

Nursing school is not for wusses.  I love that she kicked butt because she believed God can use her this way.  And I really love that she rocked tie-dye at her graduation…

I was a terrible daughter and got her a card with the SAME cheeky guy she was disgusted by on Mother’s Day.  Holla!

This fell on May-May’s birthday, so we also celebrated our favorite spunky 7-year old niece.

What chick doesn’t love gummy vitamins?

Then Father’s Day (see why I’m still recovering?)

Boogadacious is blessed with a great dad.  I am too.  Except, mine still stubbornly refuses to let me show his face on my blog.  So here’s an incognito shot of my awesomesauce dad taking (then) Itty Bit on the one ride that freaks me out.

IMG_3616

(I always won the “my dad can beat up your dad” contests in grade school ;)

And out of all this randomness… I’ll leave you with one memory that will explain a lot about why I am the way I am.  This is my family:

IMG_5261

Only they would turn a walk around the block with two invalids into some kind of crazy conga line.

(I love that my 82 year old grandmother is cracking up and that my mother looks bummed that she can’t bring up the rear with some dance moves.  No worries, my husband had full disclosure of our predilections before marrying into this.)

And this… begins our summer.

What craziness have you been up to?

Oh my goodness. I can't even imagine coming home to those injured dogs. I am so glad they are okay. My goals for the summer: clean out my garage, clean out my homeschool shelves (one going to high school next year - sniff- that went way too fast) and help the girls switch bedrooms and make one into a "dream room" for her 14th birthday. Oh, and I really need to balance my checkbook. Luckily it's supposed to rain almost all week, so I guess I'll get started soon. Probably not as fun and crazy as your summer...

Let me see, work, clean house, and take side trips when we get the chance. Oh and yard sales LOTS of yard sales..I am so glad the boys recuperated. I am telling you I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to come hang out with you for one day. I think my sides would hurt so hard from laughing I would have to take a day break and then come back again..

That last picture is so funny. I'd frame it if I was you. Look at it anytime you need a little cheering up. Your grandmother is a great sport.

Oh, Rach. I never read blogs anymore, but I should b/c you make my face hurt from smiling. I'm so glad you updated about the dogs - I was just thinking about them the other day and wondering if they were okay. Also, how did you ever date, let alone get married?? HA! Your dad looks kinda... scary - and I've only seen him from the back! lolol Congrats to your momma on her nursing degree! :)

Love it all! I can totally see your mom being the most awesome nurse ever!! How exciting! What does she want to do? Care Center? Hospice? Pediatrics? Mom and Baby?
And I LOVE the frame for the Picture of Mr and Big Bad Boogadacious! ;)

Oh wow!

Wow!

What a lot of busy you have going on.

No wonder May and June zipped by.

I love how you live every day of your life.

I have a huge sign in my office that has that quote on it.

Thanks for the share!
